We are a National Pony Society and British Horse Society approved yard offering top class facilities.

We are equipped to train to National Vocational Qualifications to level 3 in all aspects of Stud work and breeding, as well as horse management and key skills.

We are able to offer training from a basic to top class level, work experience, NVQ Modern Apprenticeships and National Traineeship.

Warmwell Stud is set in the beautiful West Dorset Countryside, just outside Dorchester. The present owner, Mrs Helen Nelmes, has recently taken over ownership of the yard, having been a partner for over 18 years, working in conjunction with Mrs H.J.C Ross-Skinner who established the stud over 40 years ago as a Welsh Pony Stud. Helen has built up its reputation to also include the breeding of quality competition horses whilst still having Welsh ponies at the yard. Helen is very passionate about her horses and always has their interests at the forefront of her mind; To quote Helen "they're not just ornaments, they're horses as well".

Due to the yard being privately owned, it is run by a very skilled, dedicated and experienced team, in a relaxing yet professional atmosphere. The proof of this is in that the yard is now one of the top yards in the area. Warmwell Stud is run to a very high standard, with Helen's reputation for running a tight ship going before her and being borne out in her every action.

She has a natural way with horses that others can only aspire to, however she is willing to share her skill with those who are prepared to listen and learn. Helen's main priority has always been and will always remain the horses. However, she is always there to give help, support and advice to owners, staff and friends, providing a listening ear and most importantly of all share a cup of tea or coffee with you!

The Stud caters for all equine requirements and is run very much as a team with Helen's husband Ken, sons Owyn and Dean and staff Jade, Steph and new girl Hannah. 

The yard also has a strong group of friends and livery owners, who come in to enjoy the fun environment and lend a helping hand, adding to the banter and team atmosphere.

The stables have built up an excellent reputation and has become extremely successful, not only offering Stud services, but also accommodating individually tailored services to suit both horses, ponies and owners.

The result of this ongoing success gave rise to such a need for expansion of Warmwell Stud, that in 1999 it moved to a brand new purpose built, larger, modern complex, providing the very latest facilities.

The stud has continued to grow and develop since that time and remains today a thriving and successful stud with Champion horses and ponies in it midst.
